LIke the topic, msn or irc?

Too many 12 year olds on MSN. I like IRC a lot more.
But then again. I do not IRC a lot.

IRC is better for staff meeting, online conferences and whatnot. Plus, I like it more text based. All those nifty graphics and all that in MSN bug me.

MSN is good for 1-on-1 conversations and personal junk :P mIRC is just great for ranting and talking to big groups :)

IRC hands down. I would rather hold all my staff meetings on IRC

IRC MSN pisses me off no decent privacy modes on it

nowadays i have it blocked by my firewall unless i need to contact someone in a rush

Ehm,...actually not, lol. Someone i knew from chat already tried to help me with it but still no luck :| If you know someone who actually can help.... bring him/her on ! :D

Why'd you get k-lined? That might help us solve your problem :p

MSN is kinda boring.... not a lot of my friends are on it... most of them actually are on irc and with irc anyone can join in so its always surprising to get a new person or get a person you haven't talked to in a very long time.

I got that ban because of a "spambot" on this pc i am afraid, that bot is gone now but i am still k-lined, grrrr :)

IRC is a standard instead of a network owned by the biggest software company around.

IRC is in a totally different category than MSN. MSN is definitely an instant messenger, while IRC is just .. chat. You can reach MSN from practically anywhere, and a lot more people are on MSN than on IRC. So it does have its advantages. BUT, IRC and its chatrooms definitely have more charm. Depending on the varied timezones of their users, they can be active 24/7, so even if you can't sleep, you can still join in on the fun. The people you meet are different and the system is a lot more convenient. And MSN has fancy stuff like smileys, custom smileys, display names, and webcam conversations, but IRC doesn't need those to be cool. So, in the end, the score is equal. I use both.

I stopped using MSN. From now on I'm only findable on IRC. MSN kept kicking me offline while I was trying to have a conversation with someone. No this is not my firewall or any of my setting's fault. I know what I'm doing. On top of that is that I dislike the new version of MSN alot. It might have slick grafics and yadayada but still, come on 10.7 mb for just an instant messenger. Back in the days when MSN was cool and nobody used it, it was like .. 100kb. I dont need all the crap wich comes along with MSN. I am not in the mood for loading .swf movies in the chatwindow. Also people are being forced to buy a new machine, or have to upgrade their machine because MSN keeps getting heavyer. This is not acceptable for me, so my option would be IRC only.
