I am currently undergoing trying to get a leasing thing going, for vbulletin.. which I will be in the process of doing this coming weekend. although, I do hear that after I sign up for the lease plan and such.. that I need to find someone to host my site? what is that all about? I thought after you pay vbulletin.. it's just a simple setup? can someone get into all of that with me. would be much appreciated.

I don't wanna spend massive amount of money on a simple website. I don't like ezboards.. and well, I thought I would pay the $80 to lease Vbulletin.. but, then I heard you need to have someone host your site? what is all all that about? how much is this gonna run me exactly?

oh ya, back to me. uhm, I'm single. I just got a new car (well, family bought) *sigh* hold the comments.. lol, but, I got a 02 Toyota MR2 Spyder.

like I said up above.. I'm online majority of the time.. so I am easy to get into contact with. I have live cam that I spent alot of time on.. as well as taking pics for friends and such and keep updated on myself.. ya know? Internet and all lol

I found this site and it looks pretty good and I hope to become a regular and get to know alot of you! :)

hosting sites vary in costs, and if you dont wanna get vB then get phpBB from www.phpBB.com . its what i use.

The software is just the software, it is not a complete hosting package.

You need a piece of hard disk space on a web server, that runs PHP and gives you access to one MySQL database. You can install vBulletin on it, and then access it publicly. (and so can then, the rest of the world.) They are not selling any space, they are just selling their product.

This forum, creations.nl is hosted on a simple linux/unix plan at a hosting company. We have around 50 to 100mb web space and the server run webserver: apache which supports PHP and the hosting company gave us the use of one mysql database. I purchased vBulletin and uploaded it to the web server. Put my hosting information and database information (which the hosting company gave me) in the config.php file and went online, run install.php and after few mins it was all setup and ready to go.

A lease license if $85 per year. When the year is over, you need to purcahse a new license, if you want to keep using it. If you don't want to pay for it each year, then you can buy an owned license, then you pay $160 once, and never have to update the license again. This is what I have done. To host creations.nl I pay a monthly fee. (for some reason I can't mention the amount in public) - but there are hosting plans on the internet that start from 5$, 10$ to few hundred. Important points are traffic, use of services and quality. I think for a good vBulletin web server, you have to pay around 15 to 25$ / month for the hosting.
