I use mirc at the moment. Even on Linux, using wine, cuz I like my script :)

The choice of irc client is a matter of taste, what might be right for me might be wrong for you :)

EPIC is a text based irc client, with its roots in ircII.

I used to be a avid BitchX user years ago, but ive always been a scripter, so EPIC was the logical choice.

Originally, BitchX started out as a EPIC script, later on it became patches, untill it forked off and became its own client. So EPIC can be concidered as BitchX without all the bullshit ;)

EPIC is also one of the oldest clients around (10 years), and has extremely helpfull and friendly developers.

Unlike irssi wich uses perl as the scripting language, EPIC has its own language (derived from ircII), but also support for perl and tcl (if memory servers me right). EPIC means Enhanced Programmable IRC Client.

EPIC runs on pretty much any platform (including windows), but its at home on linux and bsd.

Other than that, its just a matter of taste as to what irc client to use. No well developed irc client is better than any other, its just a matter of taste and zealotry ;)

I use ChatZilla. It's simple, and doesn't have as many features as mIRC (I think), so that's good because I'm not as good with IRC and don't use it as much.

agreed, most of the stuff in todays clients are just fluff and eye candy.

If it's about windoze, nothing beats TBM-mIRC (http://mf.creations.nl/TBM3.png).
If it's about anything posix, nothing beats irssi (http://mf.creations.nl/irssi.png).

So I dont think irssi is the odd man out, great client, accessible from all over the world ( if your host is online and your networksettings are set to recieve and send, and you might want a dns to easy things up ).

i know mf and estaban also use irssi (i use irssi thanks to mf). as you can see they also replyed with arguments why irssi is nopt the odd one out, its epic :P
