Is there a user or a group of users who have joined your channel and caused a little bit of havoc flooding with a lot of txt, ctcp actions, colors or clone bots doing join/parts?

How do you handle this .. or do you wish to learn how?

Post your tips and experiences here, the commands you've used and how you deal with this after the tsunami.

Where do you report to, do you get any feedback from those reports and did whatever you do help to prevent alike attacks?

Best counter-action to take against a flooder is just to set a channel +im (invite and moderated) for the duration of said attack, only way to make it stop. Experience shows that reporting it will not do anything at all about the person actually doing the flooding. Seems like there is just too much work involved in tracking down said individual because of the pletora of ways a person can hide on irc (vhosts, proxies).

I love BS (botserv). I just setup channel flood protection, and it will ban the user. I am very lucky in that the network I have all my channels on I am also an IRCop, so if somebody is being bad I can just gline them :).

i just run some bots on irc. i have them increase the chan limit 60s after one joins. when there is a flood of joins irc server will say channel is full. i set the limit 2-3 people above what the current level of people are. works well
