Hello chatter,
Welcome to the vBulletin Fans Network Chat Channel: #vBFans.
You will probably notice some users being listed with a prefix in front of their chat name.
Regular users will not show up with a prefix.
Voiced users will show up with a + prefix, this usually means they have permission to chat in the channel even if the channel admin has closed the channel down for chatting (moderation turned on) On our chat channel this usually means you are a known user to the community and have registered your nickname. You're considered a friend and therefor get the voice mode +v set to your nickname.
Halfop users will show up with a % prefix, this usually means they are more experienced users, regulars, in the chat channel and help the channel staff out with regular questions and indepth guidance. However, on our channel it means that the user is an important person, and/or an official staff member from one of the official vBulletin web sites like vBulletin.org or vBulletin.com. This way if you see a user like Kier in the channel with % you can be pretty sure it is the real one. We also give halfop mode +% to our sponsors, staff in training or VIP guests.
Op users (Channel op (aop) and Super Op (sop)) users will show up with a @ prefix, this usually means they are the staff members of the chat channel. They help the channel owner to moderate and manage the channel. They enforce the rules and have the final word in every decision to be made. Listen to the staff, respect them and don't talk back. On our channel we give op (@) to the people who are either junior, senior, or head staff on one of the vBulletin Fans web sites. Administrators and IRC operators get Super op, and the junior and senior staff get Channel op. Asking for op in our channel will result in being ignored, because we don't give them to non-staff members. Users with the op mode (+o) can use certain privileges in the channel and to help moderate the channel they can kick users out, or suspend access to the channel through a ban.
If anybody has any issue with any user (regular user or channel op) in the #vBFans channel please contact one of the active channel ops, or contact them through a private message on the forums. If you really need to go higher up in the chain of command contact mf or mephisteus who are the ones overseeing the chat channels and irc servers.
The people with the ! prefix in front of their names are the administrators of the channel. They're basicly the same as a super op.
Basicly, none of these prefix flags mean anything, we're all equal. They just help us order the channel and help the staff to keep order in the channel.
So, have fun and play nice.
